Batik nails: Motif Parang Rusak

Before I showed you my Batik nails, I have a quick question: Have you ever heard of what "Batik" is? If you haven't, don't be discouraged ^_^

Batik is:
  1. A method (originally used in Java, Indonesia) of producing colored designs on textiles by dyeing them, having first applied wax to the parts to be left undyed.
  2. Cloth that has been dyed using the batik method.

However, many batik clothing nowadays are made with printing machines instead of traditional method. There are hundreds of batik patterns in Java, each unique to its birthplace. For example, this pattern I used on my nails.

This is called Batik Parang Rusak. Parang literally means a machete, and Rusak means "Damaged". This pattern was born in a town named Yogyakarta, in Central Java.
Here's how it looks:

According to Batik Winotosastro, this pattern is part of the "Parang designs worn by the royal family on state occasions, Parang Rusak symbolizes the human being's internal fight against wickedness by controlling their desires so their wise, noble character would win out."

Ok, enough with history lessons, now onto the nails! (^_^)

This is how it looks on my nails:

#Indonesianbatiknails are pretty cool, huh? Give it a try and you'll love it too.
